Solid tips. Sounds like Mother Earth Magazine on steroids.

Heyyyy appreciate you Chris. Haven't heard of MEM before...going to dig into that this weekend thank you.

Love this Ryan and rooting for you!

"At 100,000 subscribers and a 50% open rate" this seems high but achievable. I find as my subs increase, my open rate goes down. I started with a 65% open rate, and now I'm below 50%

Totally doable! Industry averages sit around 45-50% but really depends on lead quality and how well the top of funnel content speaks to the audience. Of the 200+ emails I’ve sent with newsletter I’m anywhere from 43-51% OR and consistently a 4.5ish CTR

Any suggestions for attracting advertisers to paid spots in the newsletter? I’ve don’t the hard part of sending thousands of daily emails with 70+% open rates. Now I just need advertisers 😅

Ryan Hutchinson's avatar

Have you let them know you have open advertising slots? What have you tried for attracting sponsors?

Excellent article, Ryan. It has given me food for thought, especially in the traffic generation area.

Ryan Hutchinson's avatar

Hey Kevin thank you for the kind words. Really glad you’re here and getting actual value from the content.

I love the thinking process Ryan and how you nail down your niche. Also love how you plan the next steps for your newsletter. You're open to share your progress and your work. Looking forward to read more about it. This is an instant subscribe and follow

Hey Mario thanks so much! What areas of this project interest you most? I’m always collecting data on my audience and what they find useful…

Mario Da Silva's avatar

Homestead and off grid living Ryan. Those are topics that I'm always interested to read. And I like your breakdown with the Venn diagram

This is a great overview. Thanks for sharing!

You got it my man. Plenty more where that came from

I love this breakdown!

Ryan Hutchinson's avatar

Appreciate those kind words - what part did you like most?

I absolutely loved the Venn diagram, and I liked that you picked a few specific niches that all work together. Even though I'm in the make money online niche, I enjoy seeing something different. It gets ideas flowing for me of how I can break out of the MMO box and differentiate myself.

Ryan Hutchinson's avatar

This is my entire content strategy from now until forever. I’m sick of reading the same ol nonsense on social. Appreciate you Christina! Plenty more to come

This is a great breakdown Ryan. I'm following along to see how this goes and wishing you success.

Also I love the illustrations. How do you create those images.

Renee Puvvada's avatar

Enjoy! I also camped in the self-reliance niche for a time and wrote a book about rainwater harvesting that's sold over $117k. We should chat! I'm sure there'a a way to exchange value

This is epic Ryan. One question. Why wait for 10k subscribers to sell a low cost product. I’d do it at 1k and test it out. At $99 and a 2% conversion (which is a low projection for your target market) that’s $1980 potential for each product and evergreen passive income. And then you’re creating a segmented list for updates including your sponsorships.
